Skincare – Professional Treatments

Professional Treatments

Professional treatments are the best way to boost your skin’s health and performance in addition to a rockstar home routine. They can also be a great way to hit reset on your skin if you’ve fallen off the wagon, or had a bizarre flare up due to any number of things.

Facials, dermaplaning, chemical peels, and microneedling rank highly as my top favorite professional treatments.

Facials

Facials are personalized skin treatments designed to help you relax, as well as address and treat any skin care needs you have. A facial will typically include double cleansing, exfoliation, massage, and targeted treatment and hydration. A dreamy way to drift off into effortless skin health boosting power.

Dermaplaning

My favorite form of physical exfoliation, dermaplaning is a service using a surgical blade to scrape away layers of dead skin cells, exfoliating and smoothing the surface of the skin. With this smoother, softer skin texture, makeup applies more effortlessly leaving a more flawless finish. Other benefits include diminished fine lines and wrinkles, increased cell turnover, and stimulated circulation.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a my favorite form of – ahem – chemical exfoliation. Because the hydroxy acids used in a chemical peel can target layers of skin cells beyond the surface, this kind of treatment can give your skin a boost for up to several weeks! Peels minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, uneven texture, blemishes, and large pores. Products penetrate into the skin better, giving you more bang for your buck!

The depth and strength of your peel will be determined based on your desired results, and a thorough skin analysis. If you are worried about peeling or flaking, a lighter peel can be used.

Don’t let “chemical” scare you away! Peels use AHAs / BHAs or even enzymes to reveal smoother, healthier skin! (And if you’re a Skincare Skillful, you’re already using some of those wonder workers at home!)

Microneedling

Microneedling is a process which uses tiny, micro-fine needles to create small channels in the top layer of the skin. These channels allow amplified (studies show up to 300x improved) absorption of serum. Most microneedling services will use stem cell serums or hydrating serums. To minimize discomfort, a topical numbing cream will be massaged into the skin at the beginning of the treatment.

The microchannels also cause minute trauma to the skin, which incites the body’s reaction of healing. This mean improved collagen production and increased cell turnover, leading to healing of blemishes, scars, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles. Even without the serum, microneedling can make wonderful changes in the skin.
